One forgotten combination. One frustrating moment. One big idea.
Sometimes, the best ideas come from the simplest frustrations.
For AirBolt, it all started with a suitcase that wouldn't open.
A Small Problem. A Big Idea.
Back in 2015, our founder, Kabir Sidhu, had just arrived in the United States after a long flight from Australia.
Tired and ready to relax, he reached for his suitcase, only to discover he'd forgotten the combination to his luggage lock.
What followed was nearly 45 minutes of trying different combinations, one number at a time, just to get into his own bag.
Frustrating? Absolutely.
But it also sparked a question:
In a world where technology makes almost everything easier, why were we still relying on tiny keys and forgotten combinations to secure our belongings?
Surely, there had to be a better way.
And when Kabir couldn't find one, he decided to create it.
That was the beginning of AirBolt.
From an Idea to a Reality
What started as a simple idea in Melbourne, Australia, soon became a mission to rethink the way people protect and access their belongings.
The result was the AirBolt Smart Lock — a smarter, more convenient alternative to traditional travel locks, designed to put control directly into your hands through your smartphone.
But turning an idea into a real product wasn't easy. It took countless hours of development, testing, refining and believing that even something as ordinary as a luggage lock could be reinvented.
With the support of an incredible community of Kickstarter backers, AirBolt became a reality.
And that was just the start.
Thinking Beyond the Suitcase
As AirBolt grew, something interesting happened.
People started finding new ways to use our technology — not just for luggage, but for bikes, personal belongings, shared access and even business operations.
It became clear that we weren't simply solving a travel problem.
We were solving a much bigger problem: helping people stay connected to, protect and manage the things that matter to them.
That realisation pushed us to think bigger.
We expanded beyond smart locks into advanced tracking technology, developing compact GPS devices designed to help people keep track of everything from luggage and pets to vehicles, equipment and valuable business assets.
Today, our range includes the AirBolt GPS Gen 2, smart locks and everyday connected accessories, all built around the same philosophy that inspired our very first product.
